Updates

One of my biggest pet peeves is when people don't list where they got the stock in their manipulations. If all the stock is yours, then SAY SO! Just write "All stock is mine" or something and be done with it. That's it. If you've used stock from someone else, give them credit. It's the least you can do to thank them for giving you the stock necessary to make your "art" (and I use that term loosely because it doesn't always apply).

But what really burns me is when people link "www.sxc.hu" or "www.morguefile.com" and that's it. What the fuck? COME ON. Those are real people on that website giving you stock as well, and now suddenly their importance is demoted to just being part of another website? No. Link to the person who provided the actual stock photo, because they deserve as much exposure as you do.

And people that I've featured that are guilty of this, YES, I am talking to YOU!

Friday Fotomanip Features

July 14 - 20, 2007

Here is the 38th installment of the Friday FotoManip Features. I base my choices on three things: stock credits in the description, comments/favs recieved since its submission, and the quality of the artwork. This is my way of giving much deserved attention to exceptional artists who are still rather unknown. These have all met the standards and have my personal stamp of approval. Please check these great deviations out. Show your support, give them feedback, and help inspire them to continue making great art. ^_^

Inner Visions
Contest held by: *FrozenStarRo + *Alicelefay
"The theme of our contest is "Inner visions". It can be a personal or general idea, a dream or an emotion. Let us get inside your mind through your entry ;) Creativity plays a big role in this contest which is why you can make a surreal, fantasy, dark, conceptual, emotional entry. For macabre and horror we expect you to make a decent entry and nothing too gory. The contest is open for photomanipulation but if you are a mixed media artist (you paint over your image or use 3d renders) you can also participate."

i have an account on sxc as well, so i know what that's like.. but i do the same thing, most times i'm just not able to find the same photo again.

I'm from out of town.

I don't see anything wrong with just linking sxc.hu. I just credit the photographer when it says that they have to be credited if you use their photo in public work.
:iconxerces:
i totally agree with you with the stock. i see such awesome images about and haven't a clue where they're from! i like to provide a link to the image i used anyway. makes it a lot easier

:XD: that really gets to me too...i know i dont myself do manips but i spend quite soemtime looking throught them and i would love to see the original stock items to see exactly what was used to make the other persons art ...sadly i think thats just another form of stealing just because the person lists it as stock doesnt mean they dont want credit ...oh well...

awesoem features you have here :aww: ... have a great weekend

Thanks for featuring me :w00t: And as for proper stock image linkage, you caught me. I'm guilty of it :( I guess since I came to DA and saw that that's what most people seem to do, sometimes without even a link, I did it too. But your right, I shouldn't do that anymore.
:iconlord-markus:
thank you so much for featuring me.

much appreciated!

When you smile you are so sweet
Let's pretend that i'm naive
Close my eyes and I can't see
While I've got my tongue in cheek
:iconbitchinblack:
So you see no problem with failing to properly credit a stock photographer's work regardless of whether or not they ask to be linked?
